RECYLE COMPACT FLORESCENT LIGHT BULBS

In West Bend – the Home Depot will take your compact florescent light bulbs (CFL) to recycle.  To save on your energy bill you may have switched from incandescent light bulbs to the more energy-efficient CFL bulbs.  However, you should not toss them in your trash when they burn out.  They contain mercury, a neurotoxin that is a problem for health and the environment.  You can recycle these bulbs for free at local establishments.  Most Home Depot and Ikea retail stores will recycle them for you.  In addition, you can check out ACE hardware stores—some recycle as well.  For other locations visit the Environmental Protection Agency’s website at www.epa.gov/bulbrecycling
