About the 2017 Agronomy Day
Sharpening the pencil to analyze the cost of crop production is more important than ever with commodity prices at or below production costs. It is critical to focus on crops enterprise budgets as well as the whole farm balance sheets. Plan to spend the day learning about which agronomic inputs have the greatest probability for a profitable return.
White Mold, SCN, and other diseases can have a devastating impact on soybean yields. What are the best strategies for managing soybeans to minimize the risk of soybean diseases? When is there an economic return to using fungicides on corn?
Lastly, marketing and risk management need to be a major focus. Is there a marketing plan? Have your pricing objectives been determined? How is local basis managed? What marketing tools will help you reach your price targets? What are the markets telling us about corn/soybean supply and demand and prices for 2017.
