Every August, the leaders of each club meet to kick off the upcoming 4-H year at the August General Leaders meeting. This year all families are invited to a presentation following the General Leaders meeting!

Joshua Schoemann, Washington County Administrator, will be presenting on Wednesday, August 23rd on Washington County’s fiscal health. Joshua is looking at new ways to continue our county’s existing programs. You may have heard that in June the Washington County Board approved the Parks Fiscal Sustainability Plan. The plan aims to operate County Parks and Trails independent of the Property Tax Levy. A major component of the plan includes new user fees in 2018. Or perhaps you read that Washington County is interested in consolidating services with neighboring counties. In the future, Washington County may be looking at new ways to make 4-H Youth Development a more sustainable program as well. Joshua Schoemann is inviting us to be a part of that process.

The first step is to learn about the county’s fiscal health and to become informed. Please join us on Wednesday, August 23rd from 2-3 p.m. or from 7-8 p.m. at Washington County Fair Park Ziegler Building, South and West Meeting Rooms to take this first step. One of the components of 4-H is to teach youth to be pro-active citizens and this is a great opportunity for families to engage in this process. Older youth are welcome to attend.

Although an RSVP is not required to attend, please help us plan accordingly by signing up your family to attend. Fill out this brief Google form https://goo.gl/PLN1hA by Monday, August 21st at 8:00 a.m. if you will be able to attend.
