Avoid Romaine Lettuce, for Now

Romaine lettuce is likely the cause of recent cases of E. coli food poisoning affecting people in 13 states, including California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington state. As yet, no illnesses have been linked to this outbreak in Wisconsin, but Extension Food Safety Specialist Barbara Ingham recommends that consumers stop eating romaine lettuce until the cause of the outbreak is identified and removed from store shelves.
