UW-Extension increases local officials’ knowledge and decision-making abilities by providing facilitation resources and educational programs. Local officials often request assistance of the UW-Extension Office in helping boards and committees understand their specific roles and responsibilities, such as open meeting or records laws.
In order to determine the best approach for promoting countywide tourism that has the widest base of support from the many identified interest groups, the County Education & Culture Committee instructed UW-Extension to undertake the Washington County Tourism Initiative. Local Government Wisline Teleconference Series
Conducting Local Elections and Current Issues Affecting Local Government training series are now available through the UW-Extension Local Government Center
Attendance at several of the Local Election Teleconferences earns participants 1.5 hours of credit toward the recertification requirement of chief elections inspectors.
Special Note: Conducting Local Elections
Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board (GAB) will be assuming full responsibility for the future training and education of election officials and clerks. As a result, the “Conducting Local Elections” WisLine series will no longer be offered by the Local Government Center. Recordings of prior WisLine sessions may still be purchased from the Local Government Center as audiostreams via The Learning Store. Future training opportunities will be offered by the GAB.
